Dale Travers Popping with TTL

Dale Travers shoots extreme sports and needs a system not only lightning fast, but also incredibly reliable. There’s often no time for a second chance with these athletes.

He writes, “I’ve been using the PW system for years. I love em.” When he got his hands on the PocketWizard MiniTT1® and FlexTT5®, he couldn’t wait to push them to the limit. Not only was he able to flawlessly freeze action, but could shoot at a shallow depth-of-field during the day, popping the subject from the background even more.

Take a look at his results. It’s clear both Dale and his subjects love what they do.

Certainly, the promise is there with PWs but I have found them to be less than reliable. Often, at the most important times, they cease to communicate with each other. What follows is a frustrating and embarrassing round of turning everything off, disconnecting one or more PWs and then turning everything back on. It’s worse than Windows.

We are sorry to hear about your experience. Please contact the tech staff on the http://www.pocketwizard.com site. I am sure they can help you get everything in order. Please let them know the camera and flash models you are using and the firmware number in your Mini and Flex. We hope to hear from you soon.

That’s unfortunate to hear Nate, I had some teething problems at the start but i use these triggers all the time and as i stated in the article, i love em..They are very reliable and once harnessed, they are a great tool for producing high end work..
