Scott Wyden Kivowitz recently gave a presentation entitled Photography Studio Lighting on a Budget for the Google+ community of New Jersey photographers. Held at Dynalite’s Union, New Jersey studio, studio portraiture was demonstrated and practiced with Dynalite’s hardware triggered by PocketWizard PlusX radios.
After Scott’s presentation was over, students practiced studio portraiture using the Dynalite gear and PlusX radio triggers. Scott put together a quick video of student impressions on the PlusX.

Sports Shooter Academy recently held their 9th sports photography and remote workshop. PocketWizard rep Ian Ray was on-site throughout the four day event, offering knowledge, equipment and support to future PocketWizard shooters. SSA selected winning photographs from participants in two categories: Sports Remote and Portrait.
Elaine Villaflores took the remote category with her behind-the-net shot of a goal in action while Mat Boyle impressed the judges with his dramatic mid-air portrait. They will both receive a pair of PocketWizard Plus III radio triggers for their awesome work.

One of the key things that he will share in a “very hands-on way” is how to better control your lighting. This dynamic, intensive, interactive seminar is designed for portrait photographers, photojournalists, corporate and event photographers, wedding photographers, and serious amateurs who want to improve their knowledge of illumination and light. This workshop begins with creating interesting light with one Speedlight, progresses through using multiple Speedlites with many different light modifiers, using grip equipment, adding colors to your images and ends with mixing both Speedlights and studio strobes. The class explores different ways to achieve the lighting effect you desire for your images. You will learn how to create awesome light with one speedlight and progress to multiple light situations, balancing available light with strobes and mixing speed lights with studio strobes. We will work with infrared transmitters and Pocket Wizards as well as softboxes, grid spots and other light modifiers. You will be guided in color balances, color correction, cross filtering as well as adding and controlling color when capturing your images.
